Today I got upset with my BPD friend... . and she knew it right off the bat. She made me look and feel stupid in front of another friend, treated me with disrespect. She apologized later in a private conversation.

These led to a text exchange tonight about a simple quote I posted on FB which had nothing to do with my personal life. Of course she thought it was directed at her. The quote was a question ":)o you ever feel that no one really cares?" I shared this quote on my wall yesterday. It was about my job but I didn't explain it on FB. I didn't think there was a need for that. Well she took it personally... . and worried that it would reflect on her. Guess the world really revolves around her... . never mind that the reason I posted it had to do with what is going on at my job.

When I validated, she backed off and became a lot more mellow. Geez!

Could she have become dysregulated because I got mad at her enough to pick a fight?

Sorry to hear you've been dealing with a clear misunderstanding. I think if a friend of mine posted that on their FB book I would definitely inquire about it- maybe in a sarcastic way or maybe in a genuine way - depending on my mood. But, no I don't think I would decide that it was all my fault and that it was a personal attack on me... . some people are sensitive to the potential sound of criticism even when none was intended. I think that is where the whole "walking on eggshells" phrase came from.

Yes, a clear misunderstanding which got blown out of proportion. Nothing new. When she asked me "What's with your posts?" I gave her the reason behind it. She didn't believe me anyway. After I validated her feelings, she calmed down a bit and said "you said you are not FB friends with co-workers, so why not just come out clear? Why let people wonder? Not good." I cannot believe how a FB post became a topic of discussion. I am never going to post anything with quotes. On the other hand, the other night she posted so many things that would let people wonder as well yet I didn't say anything. Ahhhh that's right I'm not the one that's sick in the head. It's like she thinks my having a FB account is all about her.

In retrospect, I should have stopped responding after my brief explanation to which she responded "Well who knew."

We learn everyday... .

It's a shame that we always have to be cautious about what we say and how we say it.

I'm always in the same position~~no matter what I say, he'll either take it wrong altogether or take one word I use and rip it to shreds.  I don't know any good answers for this.  Some times I feel like I should just stop talking all together (not likely to happen) but I do get very quiet when he gets in that kind of mood
