Hello,

My husband and I have been struggling with how to appropriately handle his uBPD mother. I am hoping to get some insight into what to do or how to handle what she and really his uBPD sister have done and I'm sure will continue to do. We have been together for about 3 years and just recently got married. We have been dealing with lying, manipulating, and deceitful behaviors throughout our relationship. His mother is extremely high functioning and very good at manipulating people. His father and grandmother have given us some insight into this.

Hi tuesday,

Welcome to bpdfamily.  I'm glad you found us.  I'm sorry to hear that things aren't going well with your mother-in-law.  We have tools here which can help, and  members who understand and are also in similar situations.

What kind of contact do you have with your MIL?  :)oes she live with you, or near you?  :)o you have any children?

Here is a link which can help your communication with your MIL: How To Manage a BPD Relationship/Reducing Anger Using SET

Keep writing, it helps to share.  We are here to support you.

She lives a couple of miles away. Here lately we have been seeing her more often because of our wedding stuff and we basically can't go visit his father or father's parents without her being there. We also can't have dinner with his dad without her being invited. His father left his mother about 5 1/2 years ago and they've been divorced about 3 years.

We don't have any children. That's a bit of a fear of mine... . how his mother will try to insert herself or do something to cause some sort of friction.
