How to communicate after a contentious divorce... Following a contentious divorce and custody battle, there are often high emotion and tensions between the parents. Research shows that constant and chronic conflict between the parents negatively impacts the children. The children sense their parents anxiety in their voice, their body language and their parents behavior. Here are some suggestions from Dean Stacer on how to avoid conflict.

Hi, as the title states I could use some support. As ive mentioned before I suffer from depression, I was diagnosed with body dysmorphic disorder 13 yrs ago and my life since then has been an emotional rollercoaster.

Life just hasnt been peachy lately.  I realize thats just the way it goes but ive been especially down lately. Its mainly my bdd and when it acts up I feel like the world is coming down on me. With the recent loss of my BPDex I feel especially lowsy.

I realize my failed relationship was not my fault, however I just have been feeling like crap lately., im sure most of you can relate. Getting over a BPDex is bad enough but trying to do it when you have a disorder as well makes it especially hard. I guess I could just use some uplifting words. You guys have been wonderful and I appreciate this site very much.

Thanks

I am sorry you are in such a tough space.

I am not familiar with your disorder - does it have a specific treatment or therapy?

It's hard recovering from a failed r/s. It's probably harder if your SO is BPD.

Not to speak about how it must be like if you have your own problems on top of it.

I think most of us have our own issues, because there is a reason why we were in BPD-r/s. I can't imagine how you're issues must feel, but it seems very hard.

Don't make it any harder by being hard on yourself. You're worth a break from the trouble.

Take care!

Thanks guys, ive been in and out of therapy for years for my bdd. Im also on meds have been for years. I have the tools to deal with my disorder however I struggle a lot especially when things are not going well. My disorder can be debilitating at times, ive changed jobs because of it and sometimes cant leave the house. I know everyone has their problems and im not trying to throw a pity party, I just need some encouraging words at the moment, im sure we all do.

Thanks again

hey hey,

i just wanna say that i think those of us who are at the place where we have found this board and post on it, although we have our own issues, we are all beautiful caring people.  you shine from the inside out.  a great friend of mine told me once that i am like the sun and my exBPD/NPDbf is like a dimly lit flashlight with dying batteries.  hang in there and be good to yourself.  you too are like the sun.  and you are not alone, i have been feeling crappy too.  you have good company here.
