I am seeking some support from other Mothers with children who have been diagnosed with BPD. My amazing 16 year old daughter has FINALLY been given a diagnosis and this is it! I am terrified to accept it, not sure how to support her, and unconvinced I can make it through another episode. Any and all guidance and advice would be helpful.

Thank you.

Hello CaseoftheMondays,

Welcome

We are so pleased that you have decided to post here in an effort to help better understand your daughter's new diagnosis and how to support her as best you can.  You obviously care for her very much, and that is a great starting point for being able to help any one of our loved ones.

Now that your daughter has a proper diagnosis, will she be seeing a therapist on a regular basis?  Therapy can be extremely helpful for patients diagnosed with BPD, and this can be especially true for teenage patients, as well.

There is a wealth of information on this site, and you are sure to find some helpful advice from parents that have gone through similar situations to yours.

For starters, you might want to check out the following resource: Family Guidelines, as well as the following board page: Parenting a son or daughter suffering from BPD board

Please continue to post here, CaseoftheMondays.  You are among friends and people that genuinely care about the community at bpdfamily.com

Hello CaseoftheMomdays,

Happy to have you here and I am an imperfect Mom too!

There are lots of us here and we have traveled the same long and weary road that you find yourself on.

I also have a teenager that was diagnosed "emerging BPD"... .at age 12.  She turned 17 yesterday and we are stronger and wiser individually and as a family now.

What behaviors does your BPD16 engage in that cause you the most concern right now?

We are here to lend you our attention, support and share information with you.

Hi momdays,

Welcome to BPD Family!  I'm so sorry you are going through these struggles with your dd.  My dd16 was just diagnosed last year.  It has been a huge rollercoaster year for us.  This is the right place to find support, answers and good people who understand what you are going through.

What type of episodes have you been dealing with lately?
