I haven't posted much on this forum, although I do read from time to time. It's been just over three years of total NC for me, and the toughest of the recovery and healing stuff is well behind me. It's been a monumental journey, to be sure. Still, there's remnants that occasionally get the better of me. I suppose that's to be expected after the better part of a decade in an abusive relationship. In spite of that, I continue rebuilding and thriving.

And then... .

Four days ago, I suffered a heart attack. The doctors called it a 'widowmaker', which means I'm extremely fortunate to be posting this today. As I laid there in recovery, seemingly tangled in wires and tubes and such, it really hit me how fragile life can be. This was a very close call, and I'm 'only' 52. A truly life changing event.

As cliche as it may sound, life is too short to waste any (more) time at all on anyone who can't/won't treat me with decency and respect. Necessary or not, this was another final nail in that relationship coffin... .

sorry to hear about your heart attack, and happy to hear about your realization! I have read a few times a book called "he's just not that into you" (the book--NOT the movie, which is totally different). I think it applies to men too. Why waste time on "misery loves company"?
