So I'm over 8 months NC (not talking or contacting each other) with my friend.  He disappeared off Facebook over 4 months ago now but there is one 'page' which links to his rotten tomato's (actor/film website) which appeared soon after his real profile disappeared off Facebook.

I hold my hands up and admit that I regularly check to see if he is back on as I do care about him and hope he's doing well.  Last week when I checked Facebook to see if he's back on, the normal page linking to Rotten Tomato's is on there, and then it said 'SEE ALL' underneath.  So I clicked on that and a film he has been in plus the Zumba page I like and go to showed up as the pages under his name.  Now I can't see who likes the page, can only see how many likes the page has.  He knew I was doing Zumba but this link just seems really odd.

I guess my question is, if he has set up a fake profile with a different name but used an email address with his proper name in it, and liked that page, would it come up as a page he liked when I search his name?  Now I did an experiment and logged in to my daughters Facebook page and searched on his name and the same thing happened, I could see the Rotten Tomato's, the film and the Zumba page as pages under his name.  Even though my daughter doesn't 'like' the Zumba page but obviously I do and somebody else on her friends list does, I guess that's why it was pulled it up.  However, when somebody from work checked it out for me and searched his name, they could see the Rotten Tomato's and film page but not the Zumba page.

Do you think its just a Facebook glitch or whether its him covertly stalking (checking me out as I do him) as I regularly like or comment on posts on that page and that's his way of staying attached?

If you regularly like something on that page the algorithm will pick that up. Most likely it’s due to the algorithm IMO.

I’m not sure it’s that; like I said how come a Zumba page I’ve liked show under pages when I search his name if there is no connection.  It just doesn’t make any sense at all.  I realise there are oddities in Facebook but this link is just so far removed it’s strange and really has me scratching my head.

I have an old Facebook account I use as a sandbox to test posting pics etc, it’s helped me avoid embarrassing myself. Riddle me this, I have zero connection to my primary FB account yet I see people I’m friends with in “people you may know.” No phone contact, email different but there they are. Could it be IP address connected? Honestly, for your own sanity I would let it go and focus your energy on something positive. Don’t let these people eat you alive.

This is what's so scary about posting anything personal online - all of those companies have figured out how to take that info and not only figure out who you are, but also share that information with anybody they want. I can't for the life of me understand why people voluntarily sign up for it. Once it's out there, you have lost control of it forever.

I do not have any social media accounts and am so happy I don't. I would be miserable torturing myself with all of that stuff like others do.

Could be the IP address I guess.  It’s just a very strange page to appear when I search his name, and oddly when I think about it he updated his spotlight page to say he’s ‘weight training’ not too long ago.  Could be coincidences and maybe I’m looking into it more than I should
