Hello all! I’m so excited to have found this group. I just finished reading Stop Walking on Eggshells. It has changed my life. My spouse and I are Army veterans. We have been married for 21 years. He retired 4 years ago and has been having some extreme angry outbursts that continue to escalate and grow more and more frequent and explosive. He has been diagnosed with PTSD. After reading this book I am convinced that he has BPD also and maybe some vulnerable narcissistic tendencies. It is very difficult to get VA doctors to diagnose him with anything else. We’ve been in marriage counseling for a year and a half. He’s done and anger management group that he quit half way through. He’s now in individual therapy that he started in August. It is also so hard to find support. It’s almost as if other support groups don’t believe you or accuse you of self diagnosing. Which is so frustrating because the Dr’s refuse to diagnose him for it. I know I’m not a doctor, but I live with him and see how he acts. He is currently studying psychology. At times he will admit to having BPD and disorganized attachment style. Other times if I bring it up he rages at me. We have two adolescents that I’m trying to shield him from. He discourages them from being independent and rages at them for doing normal teenage things like going to a fast food restaurant with friends after school. His mother is possibly a Histrionic narcissist(undiagnosed) and we think his brother might be an Antisocial Narcissist (also undiagnosed).
As for me I am taking good care of myself. I’m in counseling. I have good emotional intelligence and the resilience. I am building up my self confidence. I am building up my social network again. My parents are a huge support to me and they live close.I’m taking my life back now that I have the tools. I feel so empowered.
