    Book Description
Many of our members struggle with making sense of the behaviors of the person with BPD in their life.  Often the members wonder if the behavior they are encountering is purposeful and intentional, or an emotional uncontrollable response.

Character Disturbance introduces the layperson to personality disorders describing the characteristics, behavior patterns, and thinking of the various disorders.  :)r. Simon delineates the difference between involuntary, automatic, or intentional behaviors and a different perspective on how to read the behaviors.

He spends the lion’s share of his focus concentrating on the highest conflict disorders, the Cluster B personality disorders.  The overriding message is personality disorders can be very destructive character disturbances with identifiable behaviorial markers which require a specific approach when interacting.  Simon uses both the DSM IV and Millon’s Disorders of Personality as launching point for analysis and discussion.

    The book includes the following:
    • Explains PDs and behaviors in a non
    • clinical and readable perspective
    • Differentiates between the PDs
    • Explains neurotic vs. psychotic behaviors
    • Explains common habitual behaviors of the character disturbed
    • Gives example cases with transcript extracts
    • Reviews effective therapy and less conflict ridden interaction
    • Shines light onto the “non” in the relationship, our misconceptions in interacting and our own issues
    • Offers a guide to finding and upholding good character and integrity in ourselves and our children
