Hi Grey Kitty - I don't find it hokey at all. I've developed a practice where I drink green tea and read inspiration/spiritual things for about 15 minutes a day... . my own private time. It does help.
But, the beating myself up - that is kind of my shtick.
I don't feel as though I deserve happiness or anything else.
I love the green tea reading time! Sounds like it would be a perfect time to add three, just three breaths of self compassion in at the end of this time. Or perhaps find some inspirational and spiritual books to read around the topic of self-forgiveness and self-compassion! Could you search those terms on your local library catalogue and see what comes up?
