In another thread cal644 mentioned that a therapist said his wife needed their dogs to help her mind. Has anyone else noticed strange behavior regarding pets? The last few weeks my exBPDbf was here he became um ... . not obsessed, but at the very least overly interested in our cat.  :)uring the course of the evening he would get up 5 or 6 times to go see where the cat was and what the cat was doing. I realize NOW that he was disengaging from me. The week before he left he suggested, and we did, adopt a second cat. I think he was using them to fill the hole. Both were nice cats, but neither were really into being "lap" cats. I think he really needed a cat that loved being held.
Damn ... . if we just coulda got that right cat everything woulda been fine.

BTW ... . he left both cats with me. I later delivered the second cat to him. He was fat, lazy, and ate too much. (the cat) He still has him, but will likely leave him when he leaves the new girl.

Yes, as I mentioned in Cal's post, my exw kept bringing in cats until I couldn't take it anymore. When we first got together, she had a VERY strong bond with a cat she picked up within the first few months of moving in with me. I used to say that was her "emotional crutch" and boy, was I ever right on target with that. When that cat died is when she kept going out and trying to replace that bond with another cat. But like humans, each cat has it's own unique personality but she got pretty close with the last one that I allowed her to get. When she realized that if she lost a bit of weight, she started to get more attention from men, that outweighed the cats use and she was off and running. So, now I have all the cats and her dog. At first I wanted to have her take that last cat she brought in but out kids said "we wouldn't do that to the cat". LOL Last I knew she took in two new cats with the NPD she hooked up with right away. Good luck with that.

Bahaha! Thanks for clarifying that you were talking about the cat here.

Hey ACR ... . BTW ... . how's your cat?
He PEED! Three hour visit to ER vet - stuck a needle in to get sample, put him back in his carrier, and about a minute later, he peed -- all over himself and carrier (poor guy!). This morning, he peed in his box with no coaxing from me! He was truly just holding it the whole time due to stress.
Thanks for asking, and I will add it to my thread because others may be concerned for my little guy.
The vet's diagnosis... . wait for it... . "He doesn't like to move."

My exBPDgf was obsessed by dogs. Everytime she'd see one she'd point and scream, like a four-year-old. I would take her to the dog park so she could be near them, as she didn't have a dog. But I always noticed something weird in the year we were together about dogs. She never stopped talking about them, saying how much she loved them... . but whenever we got near one, she would play with it for a few seconds and lose interest. This always baffled me... . anybody else notice stuff like that?
