Validation or Enabling?

Does anyone else here think that
validation
can sometimes be enabling Mis-perceptions? I read a great article by a well-known Psychologist, Patricia Evans, she says that for a BPD person to change their mal-behavior, they must change their Mis-perceptions. I think sometimes validating can enable BPD people to hold I to their Mis-perceptions and thus to never heal, which apparently they hardly ever do heal.

Can some one define validation for me? I'm not sue I understand what it is to validate or be valuated, like validating a check?
Like aBPD argument is usually invalid because it follows no proof or logic, only misperceptions?
Some one please define validate to me and use an example, if I'm validating some ones feelings am I identifying their feelings or empathizing with them?
I'm fuzzy on this word.
