I have just finished seeing a hypnotherapist for an addiction I had and it has worked after about 6 sessions. I also seen a therapist last week for the first time about my low mood, self esteem and codependency issues which came to the surface again after my relationship. Anyway the therapist was talking about seeing her for 12 months. I said to my GP about my depression etc and he suggested I mention to the hypnotherapist and I did in my last session and he said he could help me in few short sessions, plus we already know each other. I said to him I did not want to pay a therapist weekly for 12 months and he was basically saying you are not going to just to earn them a living,it is to help you and 12 months seems a bit too long for behaviour therapy. Although he did say go to my next session with her and see how I feel. I agree with him really, but it is all a bit confusing as what is the best treatment. All I know is that he has helped me a great deal already and it would be a fraction of the cost of the other therapist for 12 months. Anybody have any experience or advice?

Yes... .

If you have the means neccesary (as in the benjamins, the dollars) take all and grab all the professional help needed. All(!) The more the better. I mean that. I'm going to more than 1 therapist as well.

Thanks, I think I will try my hypnotherapist again for the sessions he recommended,as it was great for my last problem.

Godspeed jj212! I would also recommend going to normal therapy with ur therapist though. 12 months might seem like a long time, but ive already been in therapy for over 6 months and i'm far from finished.
