VIDEO: "What is parental alienation?" Parental alienation is when a parent allows a child to participate or hear them degrade the other parent. This is not uncommon in divorces and the children often adjust. In severe cases, however, it can be devastating to the child. This video provides a helpful overview.

Something I woke up with... .  Feel free to substitute "Man" with "Woman"

Once upon a time there was a woman. The woman walked through the night on a long road. The woman didn't know where she was going, but she knew she had to keep walking. After a while it started to rain. The woman became wet and cold. After a while, the woman met a white coat.

'Who are you?', said the woman.

'I am a coat,', said the coat.

'What can you do for me?', asked the woman.

'I can protect you.', said the coat. 'I will be your friend. I can keep you warm and dry in the rain and cool in the sun.'

'What is sun?', asked the woman.

'You'll see.', said the coat.

' I can use you.', said the woman.

The woman put on the coat and became warm and dry as the coat protected her from the rain.

After a while the rain stopped and the woman met love.

'Who are you?', said the woman.

'I am the feeling of love,', said love.

'What can you do for me?', asked the woman.

'I can help you care for someone and I can make those around you feel loved. I can make sure you are kissed, held, loved and I can make you feel happy.'

'What is happy?', asked the woman.

'You'll see.', said love.

' I can use you.', said the woman.

The woman put love in her pocket and kept walking. After a while the woman met happiness.

'Who are you?', said the woman.

'I am the feeling of happiness,', said happiness.

'What can you do for me?', asked the woman.

'I can make you smile and laugh.' , said happiness. 'I can make those around you happy and I can make you feel safe.'

'What is safe?', asked the woman.

'You'll see.', said happiness.

' I can use you.', said the woman. The woman put happiness in her pocket and kept walking. After a while the woman met safety.

'Who are you?', said the woman.

'I am the feeling of safety,', said safety.

'What can you do for me?', asked the woman.

'I can keep you from harm.' , said safety. 'I can make those around feel safe and I can make you feel harmony.'

'What is harmony?', asked the woman.

'You'll see.', said safety.

' I can use you.', said the woman. The woman put safety in her pocket and kept walking. After a while the woman met harmony.

'Who are you?', said the woman.

'I am the feeling of harmony,', said harmony.

'What can you do for me?', asked the woman.

'I can keep you in tune with the world.' , said harmony. 'I can make those around you feel harmony and I can help you find a man.'

'What is a man?', asked the woman.

'You'll see.', said harmony.

' I can use you.', said the woman.

The woman put harmony in her pocket and kept walking. The feelings in her pockets felt heavy, but she enjoyed the weight and decided to keep them. On the way, she met another coat, but it was black and since she already had a coat, she decided she had no use for it.

After a while the woman met a man.

'Hello.' said the man.

'Hello.' said the woman.

'Who are you?', asked the man.

'I don't know.', said the woman.

'Where are you going?', asked the man.

'I don't know.', said the woman.'Will you walk with me?'

'That's a beautiful, white coat.', said the man.

'Thank you.', said the woman. 'This coat is my friend and it protects me. 'It keeps me warm and dry in the rain and cool in the sun.'

'What do you have in your pockets?', asked the man.

'Wonderful feelings.', said the woman.

'If I walk with you, will you show me?', asked the man.

'Yes.', said the woman.

They walked together and as they walked, the woman showed him love, happiness, safety and harmony. The sun rose and it became warm.

'What is that?', asked the woman.

'That is the sun.', said the man.

'It is bright and it is hot.', said the woman.

'Yes.' said the man. 'I like it.'

After a while, and despite her coat, the woman became hot and blinded by the sun.

'It is too hot.' said the woman. 'I am tired, I can't see and these feelings in my pockets are heavy. Will you carry them for me?'

'Yes.' , said the man.

The man took the feelings and carried them. After a while the woman felt cooler.

'I am feeling better now.' said the woman. 'You can give me back my feelings.'

The man did as he was told. For a while they walked together as the man sometimes carried the woman's feelings and sometimes didn't.

After a while the woman stopped.

'This is too difficult.' said the woman.

'Yes, it is.', said the man. Do you want your feelings back?'

'No.', said the woman. 'Just leave them here.'

'Allright.', said the man.

They left the feelings. After a while the man missed love, happiness, safety and harmony.

'It doesn't feel right leaving those feelings behind.', said the man. Shall we go back and get them?'

'No.', said the woman. 'I did not know them that well and I have no use for them anymore.'

'Why don't you take off your coat.', said the man. 'We can go back, get the feelings, share them and carry them together.'

'This coat is my friend.', said the woman. 'It protects me; keeps me warm and dry in the rain and cool in the sun. I must keep walking. If you want the feelings, you can have them, but I must keep going.' The man turned.

'By the way,' said the woman. 'Before I met you, I met another coat. You should wear it. It can be your friend.'

'Okay.', said the man. The woman left. The man stayed behind and watched her walk away. When she was out of sight, the man returned to look for the coat and the feelings. The woman kept walking and as she walked, night fell and it started to rain. The woman wrapped her own coat around her and kept walking

'You see?' said the coat. 'I told you I would protect you.'

'Yes,', said the woman. 'You are a true friend, but what will happen to love, safety, happiness, harmony and the sun?'

':)on't worry.' said the coat. 'We will meet them again... .  '

Thank you for the story, mrclear.

It made me cry.

I hope you don't mind, I posted it on my blog after switching man and woman around.

It, for me, really captures the essence of my relationship with my udBPDex.
