I never realized the smear campain until today

It's funny - until just today 7 months out of our marriage I never did notice that my wife had started a smear campain against me when she met her new "friend".  All of last summer she would tell my parents and friends that "I needed help", the funny part is when they asked what for she would just shrug and move on.  Then she has been telling everyone at her work how I was controlling and have had all these affairs and have been dating all these woman since we split (lie) she has avoided contact with everyone who truly knows me because they could see 100% through her BS and maybe that's why she has left everything once dear to her (church, friends) and has a new group of friends who might beleive her BS.  She even tried smearing me against my daughter and my daughters councilor - the funny part is when a real issue came up involving her and a text to her boyfriend that accidentally went to my daughter - she no longer wants our daughter to see that councilor.  She has always told me Karma will bite me in the ass - - the funny part is if Karma is going to bite anyone it will be her.

Yep, when I first my ex he was smearing all his previous ex's to me! Red flag.

The biggest,red flag of all was how she smeared her exes to me - I ignored that but a friend told me early "how she talks about them, she'll talk about you - how she broke up with them, she'll break up with you". Sadly, my friend was correct.  I did not realize she was smearing me until about a year before we actually broke up.  I read her email to figure out whether she was having an emotional affair (yes - and later the affair started).

She would write horrible and untrue stories to her friends about me - and sign them "I hate the bhit" or "vomit" ... . These were the same friends I was cooking for and socializing with so it was humiliating to read all the back story.  Here's the kicker though.  Did I walk out upon finding this out?  The intensity of what she was writing was so filled with rage and hate.  No, I did not walk out - I stayed for another year trying to fix it.  I will spend the next decade in therapy figuring it out.

New rules: smear your exes, no next date.  Smear me to your friends with lies, we're done.

Smear campaigns are so destructive.
