There is hope...

Sunday, while being the good daughter, I sliced off the tip of my index finger on my right hand (I'm totally right handed).
I have to say that my dBPDh took me by surprise. He took charge of the situation, took me to the ER, kept his cool and since then has been caring for me hand and foot.
This is the first time he's been soo attentive of me. He's been taking me to all my appointments, makes sure I take my medication and that I rest... . as well as stay comfortable (I've had my hand raised since sunday afternoon... . and it has to last till tomorrow night), he's even making me my meals.
The complaining is limited and brief, usually caused by him thinking I'm not listening.
So there is hope for them to be compassionate and be the caregivers... . it's just a question of patience.

I'm sorry you got hurt, but really happy to hear that you're being well cared for! It always feels good to have the tables turned and be on the receiving end of the compassion.

Your story is very familiar. Several weeks ago, I was not feeling too well. I quietly slipped out of the room and went outside to lay on the grass. It was cold and dark outside and I found a little spot to lay on the ground. Experience had told me that I would not be missed. Surprisingly my dBPDh had searched for me and found me. He then made every effort he could to care for me. I had forgotten what it was like to be cared for. It felt so good! Because he is in therapy, I was able to tell him how much I appreciated it the following day and it made him really happy!
