My ex uBPDgf would tell me I was the most beautiful man in the world. She even said I reminded her of Tom cruise which is just ridiculous. I noticed that she was always studying my face . On many occasions she would notice very minor issues on my face like maybe a slight shaving cut, tiny pimple, puffy eyes, etc. Stuff so minor that I didn't notice it even after she would tell me. Why bring this stuff up?

After many separations she would say that she wished I wasn't so good looking and that leaving me would be easier. One time when drunk she admitted to being superficial. I've told her that I feel she treats me like an object. She's even said that I'm like a Mercedes and she can't go back to a Hyundai. She denied what I was saying and said she couldn't believe I would think such horrible things about her.

What's up with that? Has anyone experienced something like this?

I guess we are seen as objects. She said that if we break up then the whole 2 years was a waste. She has nothing to show for it if she doesn't have me now.

I don't objectify my ex & I have nothing to show for the last four years I wasted on her!

Maybe she's projecting that you've wasted your time & have nothing healthy to show for it?

Maybe that was part of the way she idealized you and put you on a pedestal? I know my expwBPD would always call me the best at what I do to the point of telling other people as well, kind of embarassing. Of course, the times when she wasn't talking down about her exes, they were supposedly very talented and awesome at what they did too!  Laugh out loud (click to insert in post)

Superficial? Yes.  Laugh out loud (click to insert in post)  Some of the things she cared the most about were totally superficial like what her favorite jewelry was or her favorite colors, as if these were vitally important to her life.

My ex started to tell me that my mustache was slightly crooked.  Seriously, are you really looking that close, or did she just need to find a fault with me... . i think it is the later.

Agreed Blade. I think she was looking for flaws to make her feel better about us breaking up in the future. She doesn't want to believe that she lost something do valuable in her eyes. To her it may be like looking at all the scratches on a sports car.
