Great quote for those dealing with FOG

I've been on a Maeve Binchy kick lately (Irish author who wrote slice of life stories).
I finished Evening Class this week. In it was this quote. One character is telling her friend not to go back to her mother (who is now old and infirm and needs care) and says this.
" . . . really and truly she was never a mother to you when you needed it, why should you be a daughter to her now when she needs it.".
I know a lot of people out there would think this was cold. Me? I dog eared the page til I could get a pen to write down a quote that so very much struck home.
