I just wanted to be sure that everyone is aware that a new magazine came out called BPD Magazine.  I received the first copy of this magazine yesterday and have read it cover to cover.   I feel that it is a stellar magazine and quite professionally done.  The lead article is by Blaise Aguirre, followed by articles written by other well known names in the field such as Dr. Perry Hoffman, Shari Manning, Rachel Reiland, Valerie Porr etc... .Many of the articles 'spoke' to me, in particular the ones about recovery (yes, I still have hope for my daughter  : ))

The website is www.BPDmagazine.com     The response for the first copy was so great that the editor has now decided to have it come out quarterly and you are able to purchase a yearly subscription.   Hope that you are able to get as much out of it as I have!

Peace Please,  do you feel it's worth posting to the other boards?  I feel that the magazine is relevant to all of the boards.  If so, are you able to post it to all the boards, or should I?

Checking it out.  It sounds good.  I feel I can never have enough information.  I wonder if you can purchase to recieve via internet?  There might be some that would not want it to come through the mail.  Possible for others in family to view, etc.  Just a thought.

Thanks

Somuchlove:  I was also concerned about the magazine coming to my house.   My dd25 would definitely NOT be happy to see it.  I just got an email from the magazine saying, "that as of tonight Digital Versions are now available".    Just wanted everyone to know!

Do you think an adult child with the diagnosis BPD would be receptive to receiving this or offended?

Co-jo, I definitely feel that it depends on the child.  Some kids would find it offensive and others would welcome it.   I feel that children that have been having some DBT and therapy may appreciate it, others who are in denial may not . ... then again, it really depends on the person.  As for my personal situation, I feel that it may depend on my daughters mood at the moment and how receptive she is feeling.  I feel that she would enjoy one of the articles as it has to do with a situation she was in.   My plan is to wait until I feel that she is in a more receptive place and ask her if she would like to see an article that has to do with a place she was in and a person she knew AND to give her a heads up that there are other articles that pertain to BPD.

I emailed Neal and he said they were mailed out Monday Nov 25.  I think mags can take a few weeks.

He said he would look into the link and I haven't heard back

I thought I was the only one who had problems with the link. It would not recognize my password. I have not got my mag either.

The BPD magazine is truly outstanding: highly informative and very appealing visually.  I have ordered 30 copies to give to people in my advocacy group.  I think there needed to be a second printing due to the demand for the mag, hence the delay.

I was emailed in November and told it went for a 2nd printing and that my copy (that second printing) was being mailed out November 24th

I just emailed them again... .

Judy,

We just got our latest shipment from the printer. Your copy is being

mailed Monday. I don't know why you received a broken link. I will

look into it and get back with you ASAP.

Thanks,

Neal

I too have not received a magazine.  When I contacted them by email, I was told it was in the mail.  It makes me wonder if we haven't been had.  It is too late for me to start a complaint with PayPal.

I received yet another email yesterday telling once again there was some problem with with delivery... . it is really getting old. If I don't receive it by the end of this month I will be reporting it as a scam... . I really have a hard time believing this whole story about delivery.

I received an email this morning saying there was another issue with delivery and that they should go out Monday/Tuesday and be delivered within 3-4 days.

I'm not buying the excuse either.  It doesn't sound logical.  I'm wondering if it's a scam too?

I emailed Neal and he sent me a digital copy and I could open the file and read it! It is real! Neal said he could send one to anyone else who wanted it so reply to the email you were set and he will send it. I am just reading my now and it looks good. I have no idea why it was so difficult to get a hard copy but at least I have the digital version.

Neal and I have had many emails. Smiling (click to insert in post)

The first run arrived on time

Then they had to produce a 2nd run because of so many orders

The second run (sent to us still waiting) was sent out in November/December

However it took over a month for USPS to let them know they could not send them

Then Neal et al relabeled them and sent them again (It seems it took a awhile for the USPS to get them back to them)

Well there was another SNAFU with USPS

The mags. were resent last week 1st class to us so should be arriving this week in the US and I forget when for abroad.

It is now month 5 and I have received not one copy.  I was told awhile ago that I would receive the magazine in a week.  I notice that there is no longer a website for the magazine when I googled it.  I have emailed Neal twice.  There is a facebook page for him also and I tried contacting him via that method.  I am coming to the conclusion that my money has been pocketed and I will receive nothing for it.  It makes me sad that someone would capitalize on a mental illness.
