Before you can make things better, you have to stop making them worse... Have you considered that being critical, judgmental, or invalidating toward the other parent, no matter what she or he just did will only make matters worse? Someone has to be do something. This means finding the motivation to stop making things worse, learning how to interrupt your own negative responses, body language, facial expressions, voice tone, and learning how to inhibit your urges to do things that you later realize are contributing to the tensions.

You all helped me some. But the truth is I am a narcissist. More than many of you. I've noticed it as I've posted things but not listened intently. It's because I can barely calm down enough to listen intently. But some of what you guys have said has really sunk in and this site in particular has helped me. So thank you for giving me this. Even I can offer so little emotional support. I just thought of this and stopped by to say it. Thanks everyone!

If you think you are a narcissist then you probably aren't one.

Well I don't mean I have narcissistic personality disorder. I mean I am self centered to a ridiculous degree. Because I'm broken. I mean that... . just like the codependency article on this website says. Codependency is an inverted narcissism.
