I could use a daily reminder on how to move on and work towards my goal of letting go, gaining control... etc. is there a book like that? Kind of like courage to change... . would that work?

hi - This book was recommended to me by a member on this site - Daring Greatly - How the Courage to Be Vulnerable transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent and Lead. author - Brene Brown. Smiling (click to insert in post).

Obviously not a daily reminder book. Unsure about that but will check back in if come across. I know what you mean like a checklist, with definitions sort of thing?

a quote for you ...

God grant me the serenity

to accept the things I cannot change;

courage to change the things I can;

and wisdom to know the difference.

ps... . god obviously meaning; a god, gods or nature!

I don't know if there is a book like that, but we should write one! Smiling (click to insert in post)

My mother in law gave me "Journey to the Heart" by Melody Beattie and I really love it.  It is a book of ":)aily Meditations on the path to freeing your soul."

The day my mom had her last blowout - the day we decided to go NC - was november 11th.  A day that will always be etched in my mind.  The entry for that day was "You're Not a Victim Anymore."  Isn't that amazing?  Here is the full entry:

"Sometimes people have problems that make it extremely draining to be around them, problems like alcoholism, other addictions, other issues.  No matter where we go, who we are, how long we've been working on ourselves, a lot of people have these problems.  That hasn't changed.

What has changed is us.

We've learned our lessons.  We can't control the addictions, the problems of others.  They may be the very problems they came here to solve.  We've also learned, and learned well, that we don't have to stand and absorb the energy from these problems, energy that isn't ours, that no longer holds lessons or payoffs.  We no longer need the payoffs of the past - that we're victims and can't take care of ourselves.

We're free to walk away with compassion and love.

But most of all, we're free.
