Let me define "irony" for you.

Just posting to vent. You guys are probably the only people who would really feel this with me.

Long story short, kid's BPDmom lives out of state from us and we are trying to wrestle residential custody from her. Naturally it's been a long up hill battle.

One of the many issues we have with the current situation is that BPDmom allowed her chronically unemployed mother to move into the two bedroom house she is renting and run a dog rescue out of the home that includes about fifteen dogs. So, picture this, BPD mom in one bedroom (supposedly with the kids' four year old half sister) and the kids (boy 9 and girl 11) in the other bedroom, grandma sleeping on the couch and anywhere between ten and fifteen mostly large dogs running around the rest of the house.

So we asked the court to assign a GAL to inspect the home. We also agreed to have someone come over from our county and check out our house. This will be coming up pretty soon.

So what happens? Our *one* dog gets sick yesterday and this morning and gets it coming out of both ends repeatedly all over the white carpet in the living room and our bedroom. Bad enough we likely won't be able to get the strains out.

yep, ... that is ironic.

Here is another irony (in my situation).  I did everything in my family's life (& still do sans wife/mother). Anyways, I did the shopping, the cleaning, the dishes, the laundry, ... . and even the ironing (of those clothes that needed pressed).

When I got it court-ordered to go back into the house with my teens, ... . my in-laws took everything ... . INCLUDING THE IRON AND IRONING BOARD... . and my wife NEVER even knew how to put the iron on, ... . let alone know how to plug it in to the electrical socket.  Now THAT is ironic.

My father&mother-in-law simply took everything to annoy me and to make things difficult. But this back-fired on them as my teens (who weren't quite sure about their Grandpa & Grandma's actions & words in the past) now have a whole new perspective of the in-laws.

(they even took my son's bike in the garage, ... . good grief, eh?)

regarding the carpet - bleach!  lots of bleach!  and pet shops usually carry all kinds of odor eliminators.  another odor neutralizer that works well is distilled, white vinegar.  it works amazingly well actually.  i believe there are also carpet cleaning services that have gear can penetrate down real deep and get their cleaners into the carpet underlayments and padding, and sometimes even into the floor boards underneath.

The condition of the biomom's house sounds incredibly chaotic. And not very comfy for grandma... .

Gosh, what a frustrating situation. Where I live, such conditions can be reported anonymously to CPS for unsanitary, unhealthy conditions. We once had a family in our area lose custody because they had a deer living in the house as a pet.

Is there a chance that biomom will find somewhere for the dogs to stay during the visit?

It hardly matters. The "rescue" the grandma is running has a web site with video of at least ten dogs on the couch with grandma in the house. She has spent months posting about the fact that she is living at her daughters. And they aren't even denying that the rescue moved into the house. They are saying it's a perfectly safe and sanitary environment even with all the dogs there. We'll ignore for a moment than one of the dogs killed the children's cat and that several of the dogs, by the grandmother's own admission, are going to have to be in the grandmother's care for the rest of their lives because they are adoptable due to behavioral issues.

Went to the CPS website in the state in question and they directed me to make a complaint directly to the county SPCA, which I did. Unfortunately the bar in that state to get CPS to do anything is really high. Basically, unless they walk by the front yard and the smell of feces is coming from the home, or unless there is an actual attack on the children, there isn't anything they can do. There are also no pet limits in that particular town.

I just had this conversation with colleagues in my office today! Apparently Bak-out (available at Target I'm told) and oxyclean are two products that my colleagues swear by.

I will look for that stuff tonight. We are going to try renting a carpet cleaning unit since we also want to give other rooms a once over anyway.

Oxyclean is good stuff.  Used it on vomit stains from when S9 turned into a human fire hydrant.  Only with higher pressure expelling the fluid!
