McLean Gunderson Residence versus McLean Hill Center for BPD?

Sincerely trying to understand the relative effectiveness of the two programs at McLean for a loved one. Cost difference is significant between the Gunderson Residence and The Hill Center, want to know whether the results are too?

Grateful for any first hand experiences: thanks in advance for helping me with this decision.

I'm very happy you've found us, and I'm wondering if my assumption that the BPD loved one in your family is your child? Or... . ?

Over on the Parenting a son or daughter suffering from BPD Board we have ongoing discussions regarding RTCs, and McLean is one that is mentioned often. A sub-section of that Board is Archive: Hospitalization, RTCs, and IOC's where there is lots of information, and there are other threads asking/receiving information on RTCs on its main page. You are welcome to check out those links and read all you can, and ask your specific questions there, where you will find many members looking for that information, and able to provide it to other members. From my understanding, the Hill program is a two or three week program and is located on the McLean campus in Belmont.  The Gunderson program requires a stay of at least 60 days and is located in Cambridge.  The McLean campus is somewhat isolated and I think people have more freedom at Gunderson.  From my experience, the people (from the nurses, doctors, drivers, etc) are wonderful.  It is expensive, but I really think they know what they are doing.  If you have questions, you should call and speak with an intake coordinator.  McLean's is quite rigid about who they will take into their programs.  What I mean by that is that their programs are tailored to specific issues and they won't take you if they don't believe you will benefit from their program.  Good luck!
