My, how concise and true.  How silly, if perhaps also arrogant and controlling of me to have thought that I knew otherwise or that "things could turn out differently" meaning of course that they might resolve in the manner that I wanted.

Winston 72: great quote--I heard Oprah quoted that from Maya frequently. Mostly I appreciate your interpretation and agree--it was my pride and arrogance that led me to believe and compelled me to think I could control someone who my head told me was DANGER from the beginning. My heart and my inner child wanted to believe something that my head knew wasn't true.
