Effects of meds on comorbid BPD

My uxBPD has depression and anxiety. She was taking Zoloft for her depression. But back at the beginning ot April when she quit her job, she quit taking all of her prescription meds cold turkey(Zoloft, blood pressure, acid reflux). She still had 1.5 month supply when I left 12 days ago(Zoloft 50mgX13 pills and Zoloft 100mg X30 pills).

It seems to me that most of this started when she quit her meds. There were still red flags of BPD for the past 3 years. But from what I've read, if you're comorbid and stop taking depression medication that it multiplies the effects of BPD somehow. Any insight into this?

Also, what would happen if she started taking her Zoloft again? Since her quitting her Zoloft seems to have made a train wreck of our r/s. What would the effects be on her new supply? Would her resuming taking the Zoloft make her more stable with her replacement or would it make her regret the things that she did with our relationship. On the flip side, if she stays off of her meds. Would that make her new relationship more unstable?

Sorry, I don't know much about these medications. I have never been on them. All I know is that on several occasions she has told me that she needs them and sometimes she would just spontaneously cry and get really depressed.

I did talk to someone a little while ago that told me quitting anti depressants cold turkey can be dangerous. Not sure what they meant by dangerous though.

My ex also presented with depression comorbidity.  Her anti-depressant prescription was a couple of decades old and clearly ineffective.  She made statements of wanting to change at my request but never followed through.  I do believe, with colder and gloomier weather upon us, that it is starting to impact her r/s with my replacement.  Long term SSRI discontinuation should be done in consultation with a psychiatrist or med doc with the best course of action being a process of tapering.  The side effects of discontinuing abruptly can be googled.

Thanks for the info Hawk Ridge. Does anyone know what effect stopping anti depression meds has on the BPD side? Would that trigger devaluation or the splitting phase?

Mine was on various medications although I didn't know a huge amount about them. I remember once she went to the bathroom and I was going to make a note of them and see what they were for.

She stopped taking them and got really unstable.  When she was on them she was always tired but when off them she started going nuts and I got devalued.

Yes, that's about the way it was with me. She slept a lot while on the Zoloft. But when she quit cold turkey she started getting distant, irrational, and hostile. Then about a month later she friended new supply on FB. And as they say, the rest is history.

Any other experiences with starting or stopping anti depressants?
