Roto-Rooter is the enemy now?

My poor mad sibling called today and my mother made the mistake of telling her we're having some plumbing problems and Roto-Rooter was the company who was helping us.

My sibling pitched a fit over the phone about how we didn't use an independent company.   

Anyone else have someone with BPD who has an obsession with "purity"?

What I see in my FOO is both my uBPDmom and uNPDbro become too emotionally invested in their beliefs and personal preferences. I used to be a bit like that  but over time, and thanks to my education, learned to see the world in a more nuanced way.

For instance, my uNPDbro is constantly on social media taking rigid stances on any number of issues and getting offended when people disagree with him. When I try to calmly explain other perspectives, or even my own somewhat differing point-of-view, he'll flip out and accuse me of just being a "devil's advocate" or whatever.

Meanwhile, my non-PD sister hardly ever expresses strong opinions unless it's in her field of expertise or affects her family in a significant way.

With  my uBPD mother, somebody always has to be the enemy. Usually its a family member, but sometimes a neighbor or whatever. When she designates an enemy, they are completely all bad with no good in them. This usually only lasts for a short time until her mood changes or she finds another enemy.

My biggest accomplishment in living with her has been learning how to avoid becoming her target enemy. Through reading books, praying to God, going to Alanon mtgs and really making an effort to not spend time with her, I have become better able to protect myself... .but sometimes it happens anyway, like today. I think I'm getting better at dealing with it when it does.
