hi nowwhatz. the first thing i would ask is, is your depression situational or endemic? mine's endemic, and after years of thinking i would one day break out of it somehow, i relented and came to admit that i could only manage it. i now take lexapro (and briefly was prescribed xanax, which i hated and tossed). do you feel the wellbutrin helps?
Hi Maxen,
That is a good question. My best guestimate is more situational then endemic. I was on wellbutrin about 12 years ago following a horrible family tragedy, then got off it after a couple of years... .now back on wellbutrin since my adventures with the BPDgf began. About a year into the BPD roller coaster I started to experience frequent panic attacks. The attacks are under control with xanax but I feel like the drug is dumbing me down somewhat even though it is a low dosage.
As for the wellbutrin I think it works. I know there are other meds out there that are stronger or work in different ways. My only other experience was with paxil which turned me into a zombie and I had to stop taking it right away.
Unfortunatley it has been over a year since I was able to see a psychiatrist and over a year since my therapist ¨fired¨me... .I used VA medical and you know they are having problems. Perhaps a visit with a doc might result in a change of prescriptions?
As the weekend progressed I seemed to get out of my funk a little bit. Not having the BPDgf in my house is helping.
