Do SSRI'S stop the rages?

My ex got on Zoloft right when we broke up so I never got to see if it stopped his rages. Does anyone know if it works on borderlines?

My BPDh takes zoloft too. It helped some, but mostly for the depression. There are meds to help with aggression and rage, but these are just a bandaid as they deal with symptoms and not the cause. In a lot of BPD cases, meds aren't very effective as this disorder isn't due to chemical imbalances. There may me comorbid issues with it such as depression or bipolar and those do well with medication.
The two times I've seen my husband become violent were times he missed his meds for a few days, and when he switched meds. I would say overall it helps him manage moods, but is not enough by a long shot!

For my ex, no. She tried a low dose of Zoloft for a year and then went off. I did not notice a difference. There were definitely many intense rages while she was on it.

Good to know. The caretaker I am talked to his doctor and asked him to put him on something for his rages. That is what he subscribed. I am sure he will not stick with it anyway. He is on an opium based pain med. for his back. Drug addict, drives a car crazy, no patience, yelling, his way or no way. What did I really get out of this relationship? Oh yay, a tiny bit of attention now and again. So one sided. So selfish. Bpd's look out for themselves at all costs.
