Shortly after my break up with my Bpdex I went to a family function to be around people that loved me. It was my Grandparents 70th wedding anniversary. They are both in their 90's and still kicking. However my grandfather is suffering from Alzheimer's and has trouble remembering who most of the family is. We went and set up a banquet at the church where they were married at. We invited all the relatives we could from all over the country. We even went and had all there old photos redone and hung all over the gathering area. My sister who is a chef even managed to recreate their wedding cake from an old photograph. Needless to say we went all out.

Well after the morning service we went to the gathering area where everyone could congratulate the happy couple.

This is where it gets a little sad... .

My grandfather was having an "off" day and couldn't remember the faces of his sisters and brother. He even gave my grandmother a blank stare when she asked what he wanted to eat. He did not recognize me when I gave him a hug. He just smiled and said hello and asked who are you?

It was truly heartbreaking to see this man that I admired loss his mind like that little by little.

Then I was a witness to a miracle and I am not a particularly religious guy.

My great aunt got up and wanted to sing a song that she sung for them at their wedding. I can't remember who it was by but the title was "Because".

When she started to sing the room fell silent. I looked over at my grandfather and saw the fog being lifted from his face. He looked at my grandmother and said her name as tears started pouring from his eyes. He squeezed her hand and just kept repeating her name over and over until the song was finished. It was the first time he had shown any recognition of her in a very long while.

I know that true love exists now. Just because the mind can forget doesn't mean the heart ever will.

I hope that this story will inspire people to find their soulmate and stop clinging to their BPD ex. The person meant for you is out there. You will find them, you will love them and be loved in return. You will be happy again. Don't give up.
