Finally had a day where I felt like myself again! I wouldn’t be here without everyone’s support and stories. I can’t believe I was even thinking about breaking n/c, as that would  have accomplished absolutely *nothing*. I understand now that closure with exBPDs is best self-discovered. Seriously, use the tools provided here, read the posts, and write if you must. I thank the stars that I was able to recognize the patterns and walk out the door.

I never thought I would get over the pain of the broken engagement…  The fog is very real and made me blind to the possibility of being an emotional punching bag for life. I wish my exBPD the best, but I also understand that I can’t be the one to provide that for her.

This experience even helped me reconnect with some old friends (seriously, you’ll find some true friends during this time of recovery... i had been isolated from them during my time with the ex)and with my dad, I’m taking him out for a bike ride for father’s day tomorrow. I don’t think we’ve done that in 20+ years...

Time really does heal all wounds and it really does get better.

Thank you.

Thank you for sharing your news. That's the best post I've read here in a long time. I could have written it myself. Isn't it great to reconnect with old friends and come out of isolation?

Can I echo your point on closure - sometimes you just have to do it yourself. Anyone who was denied closure and is looking for it from their ex should read your post again. Again, thanks for sharing and good luck. You've really made my day.

This is great to hear rotiroti. It's a difficult journey we're on, for sure.

Totally agree. Enjoy your father's day.
