Something for the poetry fans - I felt inspired

Here is a poem I wrote today, the final chapter of a relationship that held so much false hope... .
Goodbye, My Love
Forgive me, my love, for I must leave you,
Sweet as you were to me.
You kept me company when I felt weary
When life was grey and days were dreary.
Rest in peace, oh dream of love,
You thief of contentment, you deceptive lure.
You must be axed, die a sacrificial death
Relinquished so I can survive.
Goodbye, my love, holder of that dream.
Goodbye, you hater of imperfection.
I gave you my best, you rejected the rest
And placed all the blame on me.

Nicely put, Lifewriter.
