I feel like maybe I shouldn't see an opposite gender (woman) therapist. I feel a bit wary sharing my feelings with my current T as I'm not sure she's equipped to understand them from a man's point of view. Should I switch?

I think you should choose a therapist that you trust.  If you feel at this point in your life that a male would better suit you, yes, switch.

It is possible your current therapist can give you a good referral.  You may want to ask her.

I have preferred male or female at different points in my life depending on what issues I was dealing with.

Edit: I should have pointed out that both a woman or a man that is skilled, should be equipped to assist you, however, therapists are as varied as people.  Choose who you feel that you can trust the most... .be it female or male.

Up to you.  I feel more comfortable talking to women about personal, emotional stuff in general, so I've gone to male therapists just because it's riskier for me.  With a really good therapist it shouldn't matter what gender they are, but gender bias will never go away completely.  :)epends what your goals are, and also be aware that folks with 'issues' gravitate to the helping professions too, as a way to project what's going on with them and/or to indirectly heal themselves.  Buyer beware.
