Turning off my phone at night
«

For many years I've been using my cell phone as my alarm clock. Well, about 4 nights ago, my phone was dead at bedtime so I let it charged all night in the "off" position and set an old-school type of alarm clock.
WOW.
I slept so much better. I am amazed at the difference.
Since the b/u my ex has relentlessly contacted me, often texting in the middle of the night. In hindsight, I realize every night since the b/u I've gone to bed with some anxiety about hearing from him. In the beginning, it was anxiety that I would hear from him AND anxiety that I wouldn't. But now,
voila(!)
, I sleep and feel so much better with my phone off at night with no worries at all.
Anyone else have other accidental discoveries like this?

Yep! I found myself having anxiety attacks whenever the phone would buzz or ring. Blocking the number has given me so much peace!

I did the same thing. Her behavior was causing me so much anxiety and I was at my wit's end. I finally put my phone on the charger in the basement then go upstairs to sleep and it was so much more enjoyable. I remember being happy about doing that because I knew I was going to get some restful sleep that night. My phone doesn't even phase me now. I just leave it on and it never wakes up at night.

Lthe basement idea! I have not been at home lately but when I return I think I will do just that... .let my phone charge in the kitchen overnight. Feels relaxing on lots of levels... .good for b/u anxiety AND a great way to be less attached to that damn phone (independently of my ex, I am on my phone way too much).

I really should just get an alarm clock, turning off the phone at bedtime is such a good idea.
I'm going to try this. Thank you!

Good for you, Vatz! I am amazed at how sometimes we can get such big impact out of seemingly small and simple changes. Keep us posted on how it goes and what you notice.
Have you made other changes that have helped a lot (small or big)?
