So while I was thinking about the ex and getting therapy I decided to find a specialist in my town that does EMDR. I have read the pro's and con's and I have read that it has been incredibly helpful in resolving some issues that are so deep you can't get at them in normal therapy. The goal of this is to address my self esteem and insecurity problems. My past isn't easy and smooth and not always easy. My childhood was not normal either. Hopefully I can figure out the issue as I am never going to allow myself to date someone with this disorder again. Ever. Never ever.

I have considered EMDR several times.  Unfortunately, due to my poor memory, I cannot recall well why one therapist only did one session, not more.  I also cannot recall much of the session and what it was like.

I'm also interested to hear how it went... .when you are able to share.

I did EMDR several years ago due to panic attacks related to certain triggers. They completely went away for me. I highly recommend it.
