Any experience with partial hospitalization programs?

On Monday my wife really went off the deep end. I took her to the ER for a psych eval, which she did willingly. They let her come home but strongly recommended that she go into the partial hospitalization program.
Wednesday she saw her counselor for the first time in a couple weeks. This counselor is in contact with our MC at the same practice. MC told me that he does not like to use labels, but BPD definitely fits my wife. Hopefully BPD will be added to her official dx of rapid cycling bipolar 2 and major depression so she gets the right treatment.
As of today she is nervous about the partial hospitalization program next week but plans to go and looks forward to it. In her words, she has needed this since long before we ever met.
The partial hospitalization program is an intense 4-6 hour a day out-patient program that will last 1 week. At the end of the week, they consult with her current T and P then either continue the program or put together a different course of treatment for her.
Anyone have an SO who has participated in such a program? What were the results?

Yes. I put our non school age kids in day care so she could go. It went okay at first, but then she started taking the kids to daycare and then skipping, not going and just doing other things she wanted to do. I questioned her about it and she thought she wasn't getting anything out of it. Thereafter she soon stopped.
