Family Connection Seminar
«
on:
November 07, 2015, 06:58:53 PM »
I went to the first session of the Family Connection seminar today. I just want to say that if anyone has the chance to take it they should. Being with other people that "get it" and the information/tools given by the leaders is amazing. I am so grateful. The knot in my stomach is not there tonight. I feel like I have the start to be able to process all of the BPD stuff and will have tools to use in communicating with my uBPD when I get stronger to do so.

I'm so glad to hear that you are feeling better. I have been reading your posts and know how overwhelmed and beaten down you have been feeling. It is good to hear that the seminar helped. I am not familiar with it. Is it online, or offered in-person?

I'm so glad you attended the first session, Eyeamme, and found it substantive and helpful
When's the next session?
Is there a topic you will be covering there at that next session, or will they be expanding on what you already learned in the first?
Let us know all about it

It is normally a 12 week course. I think they have online classes too. I went to a weekend crash course. It was a really supportive environment and was really informational with some practice thrown in.

Were you planning on going to another session (or more), maybe?
Or taking it online?
Or was this "crash course" a different entity entirely?
I could see how attending classes like these could take your mind off of the immediacy of your right-now situation with your daughter, and give you the space to look at the big picture of that relationship and ways to survive it... .
What a great connection to have made

No more to take right now. Maybe in the future when I might talk to my daughter I will take a refresher course. For now I am trying to process that my daughter is sick. I have spent 30 years thinking it was me. I really need a while to just process my whole perception flip. It scares me to think of talking to her. I swear I have PTSD from it.

Yeah... .I know that PTSD feeling, too. It can really cause a lot of stress and make me want to hide in a closet to keep all the fearful possibilities away! It can really be debilitating... .
In time I think you will get your mojo back. Just keep taking care of yourself and reading and learning and getting stronger; eventually things will balance out for you, I'm sure

Great idea... .no kidding! If you have a whining, needy, anxious dog like I do you will get lots of opportunities to validate and use SET.

I have a Saint Bernard that is so "chill" that she could be a fur rug. However, I look at her and she always makes me laugh.
