My daughter is 23 and we believe show traits of BPD . She also suffers from anxiety / depression which we suspect are a result of her BPD . Over the past three years she has been treated for depression /anxiety ( outpatient program , meds , therapy etc ). At this point she has not improved and continues to suffer . We are looking for the best residential treatment program for young adults . She is not in a crisis and is willing to go , thank god . Any suggestions / experiences would be appreciated .

Hello Sadie1,
Welcome to the Parenting Board.
While I'm sad to learn that your daughter is suffering from this disorder I am glad to hear that she is willing to go inpatient to get the intense treatment she needs.
Have you looked online at the different residential treatment centers for adult women with BPD? Have you found any that look promising? What are the limitations (geographical and financial/insurance) that you are working under?
My daughter went to a wonderful facility that was hand picked (by me). It helped her beyond our expectations. I can't recommend it to you because it is a facility strictly for adolescent girls.
I look forward to hearing back from you and assisting you in any way I can.

Hi Sadie1,
Glad to hear d23 is ready to except help. That really shows maturity on her end.
In my experiences with residential treatment, I learned that to truly get the help I needed, I had to stay in RTC for 10 months. I previously went to a 30 day inpatient program that didn't give me much more than a BPD diagnosis.
Though everyone is different, I believe that extended stays at the right RTC have the most benefit.
Good luck,

Thanks for posting. Your opinions are really valuable to me even though I'm not the one who started this post.
