Before you can make things better, you have to stop making them worse... Have you considered that being critical, judgmental, or invalidating toward the other parent, no matter what she or he just did will only make matters worse? Someone has to be do something. This means finding the motivation to stop making things worse, learning how to interrupt your own negative responses, body language, facial expressions, voice tone, and learning how to inhibit your urges to do things that you later realize are contributing to the tensions.

I have just spent an hour reading past posts by "2010".

I recommend everyone on this board to read them, to achieve self-understanding and help with recovery.

I found the most painful comments for me to read were the ones that relate to parts of me that need to understand, learn and grow. That's understandable.

There are many pages, too many to read at once, but worthwhile to absorb the comments a few pages at a time.

Can you post a profile link so others don't have to hunt through the forum to find it?

I may just be missing the search button somewhere that would make this easy.

Hi Freemanstrut

I've seen 2010's posts mentioned before but couldn't find them.

There is a current thread, 2010 has posted on it. The thread was started by Bigmd, it's on the first page of current posts. I clicked on 2010, clicked on "recent posts" and 81 pages came up.

I hope you find them as insightful and helpful as I have.

Troisette and all,

Couldn't agree more and would highly recommend reading 2010's posts. I've read over a hundred of the posts and although very direct and at times painful, they have helped my recovery and understanding of BPD significantly.  A great resource for all of us.
