Before you can make things better, you have to stop making them worse... Have you considered that being critical, judgmental, or invalidating toward the other parent, no matter what she or he just did will only make matters worse? Someone has to be do something. This means finding the motivation to stop making things worse, learning how to interrupt your own negative responses, body language, facial expressions, voice tone, and learning how to inhibit your urges to do things that you later realize are contributing to the tensions.

This is really gloomy and depressing and there is a great light at the end of our journey. This is my attempt to understand the process of my relationship with my exBPDgf.

Have a great day everyone and thank you all for your help!

They mirror us

The mirror reflects love

The mirror show ourselves

The images continues and draw us deeper

Pure love

Pure light

Slowly the images change

We start to see shadows

We start to fear the moving darkness in the mirror

Distorted tricks of light begin to fool our senses

They tell us we are dreaming

These distortions are our own perceptions

Our eyes are not trustworthy

Our senses are failing

Our fears are our own

Cracks begin to form at the edge of the mirror

We desperately attempt to wipe them away

We hear groans of sadness behind the mirror

We seek to find its source

The groans grow louder

The cracks move deeper across the mirror

The light is gone

Only darkness and howls of misery remain

Whispers surround us

They tell us to ignore

That the horror lies within us

Our fears overwhelm every moment

Breathing becomes labored

Trembling hands now useless to hold

Anxious thoughts run wild

Suspicions take hold

Worry replacing calm

Stomachs ache for more, for less

We become smaller

Malnurished

Wasting

Dying

Crying alone

Desperate to move but paralyzed to deep

Each breath grows more difficult

Minds spinning

Thoughts racing

Body weak

Heart pounding

Moans of hate and fear grow louder

The mirror trembles

Then violently rattles

Then cracks grow deeper

We watch in horror

Holding our breath

Pieces of glass break free

Falling into space

One by one

Until there is no mirror left

Then silence

The mirror is gone

Shards surround us

Cutting as we try to move

Crawling away

Cut and bleeding

Quiet and alone

Looking around

The mirror is gone

They are gone

Crying in the dark

We hear the giggles of a small child

We look to find it

They run away

Laughing

They find a new toy

We cry

And pick up the pieces of us with our bloody fingers
