Went to pick up my son today at around 3pm. Met his mother at her front door. She stood there telling me she couldn't stay awake anymore, that she broke out in a rash all over her body. She stood there staring off into space not looking at me at all then said she felt like she was in a dream.

She said her family was going to take her to the cancer hospital about 60 miles south of where we live. Then text me saying her pastor was taking her in the morning, then a neighbor was driving her there. ?

I just took it in and smiled inside knowing I'm detached (finally) and nothing she does or says triggers my emotions. I like to listen to a little of her stories just to get a feel of where she is so I know when it's time to keep my son away from her.

I don't believe she's got anything going on physically and this is just her thing, she's always sick. Anyway it is interesting to watch her now that I am an observer and not tied in emotionally. I will still be careful for her manipulation and mind games and keep a few steps ahead of her. I cannot imagine anything else she can do to get me into trouble, I hope I'm right. I have to protect my son and myself from her illness. Now that I'm detached I have peace of mind and the fog is fading away. I have the energy I once invested into caring for her so I'm able to get a lot more done each day.

Life has never been better, I do not enjoy watching her suffer and I do hope she finally crashes so she can rebuild her life. If she continues the way she is she will destroy her body before long and she will either die or develope real stress related physical issues.

She's burning herself out, my son is with me tonight and I'm not giving him back until she's a lot more stable so I may be a single dad for a while and I'm ready and healthy enough to do it.

Thank you everyone here for your loving support and kindness and experience because you have given me tools and wisdom to walk out of the fog into the beautiful light of freedom and a new life.

Hey Jerry,

I'm glad to hear your son is safe with you. Do you feel you have the support/tools/health/strength to take care of him?

Bless you both.

Yes I do, it is amazing the energy one has after detaching from a toxic relationship. I'm able to think and process situations and it is wonderful! Self care, caring for my son are a pleasure and the tools I've learned I'm well equipped to deal with any outcome.

Thank you and bless you too steelwork
