Happy Father's Day

To the dads on this board: I've been touched many times hearing you talk about your kids. I hear a lot of love and loyalty and concern and sadness, worry about their safety and emotional health, worry about being kept away from them, and I know many of you would be having a much easier time of it if you could just walk away and say, "NC!"
I lost my dad when I was not quite 15 after a 9-month battle with cancer. I never had children. I think I never felt I'd be a good enough parent, because I didn't understand what it was like to be raised, really. Both my parents left us to our own devices most of the time. My ex has a kid, and I really dug that kid, and weirdly enough, I think my ex is a great dad to him. That's part of the sadness for me: not getting a chance to be around him and his kid together.
Props to all you dads--and you moms, too.

I have so much compassion for the dads of our little group who, exactly as steelwork said, cannot simply go NC. I can't imagine the strength, willpower and perseverance that it takes to create a healthy environment for children with a BPD parent.
It's got to be hard. I can't pretend to understand the frustration or the constant shadow cast over your life. Never forget how strong you are and how worthy the struggle to ensure a safe and stable childhood for your children is.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!
I'm hoping that some fathers had a good day. I'd like to say "all", but not likely the case ‘︿’
