Prozac

Does anyone have experience to share on their pwBPD switching from Wellbutrin to Prozac?
My uBPDbf has chronic depression - the severity has increased enough to prompt him to call his doctor. He's having persistent suicidal thoughts again. Appointment next week - doc wants him to try Prozac.
Did it help? Make things worse? How was the transition? I know everyone reacts to drugs differently, but I'd like to hear stories from others to get some idea of what to expect, or what to do.

Jessica84:
Different people have different experiences with side effects with various antidepressants.
Prozac generally has more sexual side effects than Wellbutrin. There are a lot of message boards that discuss these types of drugs. You might want to do an internet search and read some of the results.
Some side effects disappear, after a month or two, and others may stay. Interestingly, side effects can be opposite for various people (i.e. someone gets sleepy and another has insomnia).
Is he seeing a psychiatrist?
Depression and anxiety can get worse for some people in the Fall and Winter, as the days get shorter. Some people can get benefit from some bright-light therapy to use along with their meds.

Thank you NN! I did some research on it, but doc decided to keep him on the W, and add a low dose of Adderol. He's been on that before with mixed results. I hope it helps. Sometimes there's a placebo effect. He feels like he's at least addressed the problem so he'll say the meds are working. Whatever works!
I also bought him one of those 'happy' lamps a few years ago - he said it helps him on the dreary days. Still sunny here so far - Nov-Feb are usually the hardest months for him (and me) every year. He either falls into a dark hole of despair or does crazy impulsive things. Neither is fun to watch.
