It has been some time since I have posted, but I figure I will give a quick update on how things are going for me.

As some of you may recall I have had a hard time dealing with my mother who I suspect is BPD.  First thanks to everyone who gave me good advice on boundaries, it has really helped in more ways than one.

Growing up with no boundaries I did not know where I stopped and my family began.  This dynamic carried on to other areas of my life.  It has taken close to a year to cut the cords of guilt and shame.

I am realizing that I don't have to do anything for anyone if I don't want to.  It is not my job to save the world or help everyone just live the best life I can.

Are there still issues with mom?  Sure there are, but I know that it is not my problem or fault.  It just is.  I am hoping she will follow through with a class that deals with boundaries, but am not holding my breath as her cycle of craziness is back.

I feel bad for her living like this.

Hi Ijustwantpeace:
Thanks for coming  back and posting an update.  It is always encouraging for others to hear some good news.  I'm glad that you have made progress with using boundaries and working through FOG!

It sounds like you put in a lot of hard work.  It isn't easy, but can be worth the efforts. I can see that you have compassion for your mom and her specific situation, but I'm glad you have taken steps to make your life better.

I'm sorry that your mom is going through another bad cycle.  I hope that she follows through with the class on boundaries and hopefully gets additional help.

Stay strong and let us know how things progress.

Good job! I could have written the same post. Boundaries are so important.

I talked to her last night night and she said did not do her reading assignments, said the class is boring and she "knows" all this stuff.  I told her there is a difference between knowing and doing.  You can read a million books, but if no action is taken it is worthless.

Unless someone knows how to install the boundary app into my mom's brain I am ready to sell my house and move to another country.  These spurts, of drama which I am affectionately referring to as sh*tnados are just too much to deal with every 3,6, or 9 months it happens all over again.

I tried to tell her no one is going to want to be around her unless she learns this life skill.  I got treatment, as did my cousin.  Her dad is nuts too.

She does not understand what is appropriate or inappropriate in terms of boundaries.  These type of unpredictable behavior drives everyone nuts.
