Hi, I am new to this group as of today. I recently read the book "Psychopath Free", which helped me come to terms with the behavior of my ex husband. The book also briefly talked about BPD. From there, I connected the dots back to my mom and suddenly my whole childhood made sense.
This shed light on the relationship choices I have made. I am experiencing such sadness and grief as I come to terms with this new information. I feel like my childhood was stolen from me. I am in the process of seeking counseling, which I know will help as I move forward in my healing.

Welcome Shinethelight:

I'm so sorry about your childhood.  Sometimes we don't know that what was "our normal", wasn't normal.  Do you currently have a relationship with your mother?

I'm glad you are seeking counseling to help you with the healing process.  Are you doing anything else to take care of yourself right now?  (something to chill out and destress).

This is a safe place to share, so whenever you might feel ready, you can share more details about your childhood.

Hello Shinethelight,

You are not alone. I and many other members have been were you are now. My mum is BPD and as a result of that most of my relationship choices have been poor. My last partner was BPD.

A close friend told me about BPD. Since than I have been feeling like all of the pieces of a puzzle were falling together. The last two years I have been working so hard. I have discovered how to set boundaries, I am working on my own abandonment issues. It's a lifelong process I guess. I have been so angry with my parents, too. I guess I have felt every possible emotion the last two years. Grief also of course. A lot of grieve, over the loving parents I never had.

Hang in there, you are growing. If you can, allow the grief.
I can recommend the book 'The journey from abandonment to healing'. I am sure it can help you.
If you want, keep us posted on how you are doing !

xx
