After 26 years of a very difficult marriage I have just found out that my husband has BPD he was offered help back in 1983 by a psychiatrist .He was offered informal admission but discharged himself.

I have always wondered if he had a problem being so needy and not making friends and always being on edge .Now after reading this and seeking help online I now understand the problems that I have suffered.
It seems so strange that my husband did not seek help as this would have saved me a lot of stress and problems.

I'm glad you now understand that there may be a link between his being so needy and not making friends, and his diagnosed condition.

Yes, when the pwBPD seeks help, it can certainly improve their behaviours as well as the quality of the relationships of the people around them.
