Newborns and feelings of idealisation...

Hey everyone,

I'm not sure where it fits really... .My exBPDgf's sister recently had her second child and I've noticed a cycle where my ex would literally spend all of her energy looking after the newborn (to the point of isolating others). This happened before when her sister had her first child - my ex babysat for pretty much most of the year. Has anyone else felt the same way, or had similar patterns?

Curiously on Whatsapp her photo was always of both her and her nephew (firstborn), but as the nephew grew up and began to be more active it was like my ex switched, got angry at her sister for asking to babysit all the time, and then changed the photo away.

We're sadly in a difficult phase at the moment as I've started setting boundaries because of the devaluation, but still send messages once every few weeks and I care about her very much - so I sent a new years text wishing all the best... .sadly no reply at all, but later that evening she changed her profile to a selfie of her holding her new nephew - I'm not sure if its a subtle way of communicating because things are difficult right now for her. Or am I reading too much in to this?
