My Xw was never short on things to say about people, everyone was a drunk, a thief, looser, lier or any number of things. Xw called my mom a drunk, my sister a lier, thief and drunk, told me her grand mother and 3 of her aunts were drunk every day, none of these people are drunks, in fact 1 of Xw's aunts she said was a drunk never even took a drink. Xw is defiantly not a drunk so I don't know why she projects this on so many people. In fact her father drank more than all these people and her brother is a very bad thief.

Hi bus boy, I agree it’s pure BPD projection. My ex did the same and accused many of my friends and relatives of being drunks and/or liars yet he was the drinker and the liar. I would defend them of course ending up with him raging, accusing me of being disloyal and here we go again. Devaluing others is a way for them to isolate us due to the perceived threat people close to us pose. I ended up avoiding a lot of people because of this. Devaluing their own relatives is probably related to splitting, the idealising and devaluing cycle they go through with family. I noticed this with my ex and his daughters.
