I am a loving and affectionate person with a significant other who has BPD traits.
None of my love and affection is reciprocated and I am wondering what would I gain by staying in this abusive relationship?

Welcome

Let me welcome you here to the bpdfamily, and wish for you as much help and support as I have received. I think a good way to start is to tell us about yourself - whatever you are comfortable telling us - and about the person you are referring to.

Your question is a very complex one. I don't think that any of us can answer that for you. I think that all of us would want you in a situation in which you are not abused. To that end, perhaps Ending Conflict would be a good place for you to start. It will be far easier for you determine where you want to go with all of this once you've started to stop the bleeding.

Can you tell us what happened recently to bring your here?

I know your life is difficult now, but knowledge will help you make the right decisions. Please read the articles and workshops - they will give you some good skills at communicating.
