Hello! From 2006-2010, I was in a very close domestic partnership with someone who had BPD and I didn't know how to not take a lot of her behavior personally. Many factors led to the end of that partnership, but my not knowing how to respond to her BPD traits and behavior was a very important factor.

I am now forming a brand new relationship with someone who was recently diagnosed with BPD. I would like to have a place to talk about things as they come up so I learn how to better be compassionate and not take certain BPD behaviors personally, etc.

I am in the CoDA program of recovery from codependency and I am a sober alcoholic with many years sober in AA.

Thanks for creating a place where people can talk about being in a relationship with someone with BPD traits.

Welcome

You came to the right place, we listen and we are bound to understand many of your doubts and worries. We struggle with the same things. I found out about CoDA thanks to you.

Congratulations on your years sober. The experience with one adiction and leaving it behing can help you understand some of the tribulations of the pwBPD (pw=person with). You are on the right path, and I wish you a lot of luck.
