Hi, My adult son has BPD and Bi-polar. We have been looking for support to help us navigate boundaries and how to respond to the many faces of BPD. Happy to have found this site.

Welcome Gale. Participating on this forum may or may not bring answers but it certainly will give you the opportunity to vent your feelings and not feel you are judged. It will also give you comfort in knowing others walk down similar paths and there is strength in numbers.
Keep posting, Gale. You are being heard.

Hi Gale,
I'm new to this site too. I have found the information posted along the right side of the screen to be really helpful so far. I'm gradually working my way through the information. Knowledge will hopefully help me understand a bit better!

Hi Gale
I am a newbie too and have faced a very tough time over the last few years as my daughter has always been highly sensitive and when she reached high school the new enviroment, new structure led to extreme behaviours which then opened the door to vile direct and cyber bullying from peers. It is hard to navigate the lack of empathy other people have to a highly destructive condition such as BPD and MDD but also the blame game played by many therapists.
Yes we as parents have contributed to the condition but without the tools to understand and manage how do we support our children. Hang in there as the more information you absorb and the less finger pointing that is done makes the journey a little easier.
Life with these special kids is never boring nor easy but it is worthwhile. When they turn to you and state that you are the person they can trust it is a magical moment but it is also a heavy weight to bear. Make sure you are supported as well because without the ability to off-load you risk becoming isolated.

Hi Gale
I join others welcoming you to bpdfamily parents board I'm glad you found us, you've come to the right place for support and understanding, you are not alone.
What boundaries are you presently navigating, is your son in treatment?
