I have been in "treatment" for anxiety and depression for YEARS! Only recently did I realize that, while I may be depressed and anxious, my mother (BP) has precipitated much of it. Hopefully as a member of this community, I will receive the help and encouragement I need to survive this, and that I will be able to help others.

Hi SweepeaSmiles and welcome to bpdfamily

I am glad you have found your way here though am sorry for the circumstances that have led you here. Having a BPD parent can really affect people also in their adult lives. In fact, many of our members have found themselves struggling with depression and anxiety just like you.

Did something specific perhaps happen recently that made you realize the role your mother has played in your life?

To help you get started here, I encourage you to take a look at the Survivors' Guide for children who suffered childhood abuse, you can find it in the right-hand side margin of this board. When you look at the guide, where do you feel you are now?

Take care and I hope to read more of your story later

Hi SweepeaSmile,

I want to join Kamina and say Welcome too!

I'm on this site because my SO (significant other) has 2 daughters with an uBPDxw (undiagnosed BPD ex-wife).  You are not alone in your feelings of anxiety and depression... .My SO's older daughter has periods of depression and my SO's younger daughter has been diagnosed with PTSD.  There are alot of chaos, instability, and hurtful behaviors that they both have had to cope with in terms of their mom and I imagine you have experienced similar stuff.

Can you share a little bit more of your story?  Do you live with your mom? Are you out on your own?  Married? Do you have any Siblings? What behaviors are you seeing from your mom that led you to BPD?

I stumbled upon BPD by doing a Google search on "Chronic Lying" though my SO's ex has not been diagnosed the shoe unfortunately fits

I have found this website very helpful in terms of support, ideas, tools and a good place to vent when I've needed to  Being cool (click to insert in post) I know you will too.

Take Care,
